Cornel West Not Unity Party Nominee; Investigation Requested

April 17, 2024 (Wednesday) – The Chair of the United National Committee of the Unity Party of America (www.unitypartyamerica.us) has requested an investigation by the appropriate authorities into the illegitimate, if not unlawful, so-called nomination of Dr. Cornel West this past Saturday in Denver, Colorado.

“Before I get into anything else, first let me say that, unless the Unity Party of Colorado fundamentally amended its Constitution before April 6th, they, and, by extension, Dr. West, now have a real problem on their hands,” says United National Committee Chair Bill Hammons. “Last I checked, the state party constitution clearly states that the UPC ‘Shall be considered the Colorado affiliate of the Unity Party of America.’ There are no ifs, ands, or buts in that sentence. I know that Constitution well; I typed it out on a laptop in a Broomfield Starbucks the morning of June 6, 2017. The Unity Party of America nominated its candidates on April 6th, and one half of that ticket failed to heed my advice to ignore the illegitimate Colorado vote at the state convention and insist on the Rule of Law. 

“Speaking of the Rule of Law, in the same email to the Colorado SoS requesting guidance on the process of challenging a so-called ‘nomination,’ I’ve asked that email to be forwarded to the appropriate agency/department regarding a possible criminal angle, as I am in possession of emails that should raise a few eyebrows. To be fair, I don’t have a smoking gun, and we might not even have smoke here.”
