FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Unity Invites Cheney, Manchin, Schwarzenegger to Seek Party Nod

December 12, 2023 (Tuesday) – After further discussion at the party’s last Forward Friday meeting, and after multiple inquiries into the Unity Party nomination process by the staff of an invited campaign, the United National Committee of the Unity Party of America (www.unitypartyamerica.us) hereby invites Former Wyoming Congresswoman Liz Cheney, current West Virginia United States Senator Joe Manchin, and former California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger to seek the party’s nomination at the April convention.

“Before anything else, allow me to address the elephant in the room: the former governor’s current constitutional ineligibility, as a naturalized citizen, to become President of the United States,” says United National Committee Chair Bill Hammons. “A Colorado court recently made history by effectively saying that, while former president Trump ‘engaged in insurrection’ and thus should be ineligible for the Colorado ballot, he’ll still appear on that said ballot. Hearing this reminded me of my own Colorado presidential ballot experience in 2020, when I read that candidates had to conform to Constitutional requirements to appear on the 2020 ballot, and had the instant thought that only the voters should decide.

“Herr Schwarzenegger has made no secret of his desire to become President of the United States, and some in our party would like to at least give him a run. In a case that will most likely be decided by the US Supreme Court, it’s possible that the GOP will be left without (at least in Colorado) a nominee, and the former governor (with the help of the Unity Party) could fill that gap with a run for Colorado’s 10 Electoral College votes and a stand for immigrant rights and other principles. Assuming that no one candidate receives a majority in the 2024 Electoral College, and assuming a bit of luck, together, united, we can force the US House of Representatives to elect a compromise candidate in January 2025.

“And by no means should such a lengthy explanation of strategy imply that we’re not also serious about our Cheney and Manchin invites. All are indeed welcome.”
